Hillsong Music released "A Beautiful Exchange (Live)" today in the USA. This church has consistently produced great music, but this release is one of my favorites. Brooke Ligertwood's combination of newly composed music (Like Incense) with Rich Mullins' "Sometimes By Sight" is definitely a standout- however, each songs weaves together nicely. I found myself, in my office listening, lifting my hands repeatedly and leaning back as to receive the glory of God as my heart sang out the praises and greatness of our God (which... is actually one of the track titles). Like many songs/cds, especially in the worship-genre arena, the songs can mesh together and sound very similar, but it works for me. I can't listen through CDs that feel disconnected. Hillsong has a sound that has been developed over the years and it works for them. They throw in some different musical elements now and then that make it more interesting, musically.
I don't know how many of these songs will make it to my service right away, but they definitely edify the church and glorify God is awesome ways. I know they are celebrating this release.
