MAY 19th-27th
- We were fortunate to spend last... erm, two Saturdays ago at the beach. I love little getaways like this.
- It was nice to sit in church one Sunday without leading worship. However, I still wanted to be up there singing. I see great possibilities in our worship on Sunday mornings. Sometimes I think we ought to be spurring ourselves to worship, remembering scriptures, rehearsing all of the ways we have related to God and God has related to us, etc. But what does it look like for a leader to do this in your church? What would you like to see more of from your worship leader (without naming names!)?.... Monday ... Tuesday ... Wednesday ...
- THURSDAY! Finally! Matt had a relatively easy week. I actually took a class about leading a Family Readiness Group. That was fun, if you call fun learning about how to make sure families function properly in the Army deployed or not. It did remind me of how much I want to make Matt's life easier when he takes command.
- THURSDAY! We also took off for a weekend in Savannah to visit with my parents and witness/partake in the celebration of the marriage of our friends Jocelyn and Mackay! We were so happy to see them married, and so excited for them (after all being married is a great way to be if you're in the right place)!
- We enjoyed seeing friends and family while we were there. I really do miss being able to spend time regularly with the community of people we had in Savannah. As many ups and downs that there were, the people trump all of those memories, and friendships are fun to reunite. We had a great time.
- Bluffton Wedding was beautiful! But who know Bluffton itsself was so beautiful and quaint? And by "quaint", I mean that precious, updated home you love on pinterest... on the water, with signs that look like what you see on pinterest as well. It reminded me of the town in Big Fish. Katie FINALLY got us to Corks, this great little wine-bar in Bluffton. we really enjoyed it!
- Tropical Storm (Sub-tropical storm?) Beryl (really? Beryl?) put a little damper on our weekend, as we had planned and we returned home a day early.
- Being home sweet home is sweet indeed. I quite love coming home to my home, including my parents home, which is still sorta home...
MAY 27th- Present
- Monday, I mean Tuesday, brought the same old things as usual- work, dentist visits, etc. Dentists... For those of you who aren't aware (and don't care), I don't have good enamel on my teeth, and when they told me they had to do a filling, it didn't surprise me. This is one humbling part of my life that I know I can do nothing about. I take excellent care of my teeth, but as my childhood dentist told me once, "You have so many great things going for you, Lindsay. You just can't have it all."
- Wednesday, Shmendsday.
- Thursday, smursday.
- Friday! It's Friday! Again, I was so excited! I actually spent most of the day in bed. Surprising, right? But not necessarily because I was lazy. I mean, I spend most of my days either in the living room or not at home, so if I am at home, who says you have to leave your room often? The lighting felt right, and I was cozy! I have begun reading a book, which is what really kept me in bed. You may have heard of it, One Thousand Gifts: A Dare To Live Fully Right Where You Are.
- I began reading this after so many people I know and respect have quoted this book, and given me inspiration from it as well. I will begin a new blog to cover this material, as I am keeping track of my journey in a journal for now. I use a lot of words, and go through my own kind of reflection and study as well. For more information about the book, check out the website above. I do a chapter a day, sometimes two, but I'm excited to share this journey as I use my own words to "bloom where I am planted", because Lord knows I have been planted in many places, and only have more to come.
- Saw Snow White & The Huntsman. I liked it. We saw it at the drive in theater here in town. There are many good things about the drive in, but there are also some drawbacks. I don't care to go into them, but it was fun to prop my feet up and duck behind the dashboard whenever there was potential for violence :).
- Snow White & The Huntsman. I noticed that Snow White didn't have a ton of lines considering she is the namesake for the movie. However, after she did speak, while I do not mind Kristen Stewart, I realized that whenever she did anything, it sounded like she missed Edward. Every once in a while I found myself overlooking it. I loved all of the twists and fairytale like elements of the movie. It reminded me of a mixture of The Princess Bride, Stardust, The Chronicles of Narnia, and well, Snow White. Being that I love the three aforementioned movies, this Snow White did right by me :). It was also fun to see the other movies playing on the screens around us.
- I'm wrapping this up now... Because it's bed time and Matt is "closing up" the house.
Stay tuned for an update including my new blog about my journey through One Thousand Gifts.
