Facebook needs to put an APP that calculates how many of your friends have gotten engaged or married, and organize them in a calendar so us single people can make fun calculations.
It must be "that time" in life. "That (very expensive) time" when everyone you know is getting engaged, married, etc..
It all started last spring when many of my friends got married. Sometime around December, 20+ couples that I am friends with, not to mention the equally large number of my boyfriend's friends got engaged.
Over the past few months, all those who were engaged last year have been getting married. On any given weekend for the past four weeks, I have known 4-5 couples who have gotten married.
This weekend alone, I have seen that 4 different couples are getting married, and then, based on the information provided by my friends, there are 3 more couples that I don't know who are getting married. That's 7 couples married this weekend that are 3 or less degrees away from me.
I understand that the holidays are popular for engagements (families are together?), and that this is a popular time of the year for weddings (weather? summer? etc.).
After these basic statistical observations, this is a reminder to myself that should I ever get married, I should not choose any of these dates unless absolutely necessary. None of my friends would be able to come because they'll all be celebrating their anniversaries at the same time!
These observations are not exaggerations (is it really necessary to do so? No... not at all).
Happy engagements, happy weddings, friends!
To all of my lovely single friends out there, take a deep breath, pour a pretty glass of champagne and drink up! Just kidding... eat one of these:
