Friday, Again!

It's Friday, again! And I'm still excited!

I have been trying to figure out how to update people on "life" and all the things God and the Army are doing in our lives (yes, I went there). Obviously, the best venue is this blog! Maybe an every Friday post is the way to go. Look to the highlighted parts to see the general theme of the update:

  1. Being married is awesome, and I love it. Matt and I are very happy even as we learn to live with each other!
  2. Matt's birthday was last week and although it was incredibly difficult, I got him a beautiful grill! We love it! Weber grills are wonderful (plug)...
  3. This week Matt has been going through "combatives". What are "combatives", you ask? Well, it seems very much to me like training to get punched in the face... or training NOT to get punched in the face. Every day this week has felt like Thursday (even Monday was long enough to feel like an entire week)! Fortunately, Matt came out with a level 1 certification and only a scratch on the eye/sore back and shoulders.
  4. Being a "house wife" is dangerous to my husband's hard earned money. I keep trying to live into this Proverbs 31 image, but seriously. I even have a sewing machine. I have thought very seriously (and even researched) how difficult it would be to learn to make some of my own clothing! Maybe by the time we have children I could make them things! I'll stick with pillow covers until then!
  5. A few weeks ago, I sprained my ankle very badly. The strange thing is that I dreamed about a friend of mine breaking her ankle that night. I was doing a "Boot Camp" here on post, and was absolutely loving it. It was challenging, without being redundant! However, I have realized what my mom has been telling me for years: I'm clumsy! We were jumping over bags of horse feed (correct), and I guess my right toes got caught on the plastic on the bag and down I went. I have sprained both of my ankles several times, and this one was by far the most painful and has given me the worst time. After two weeks, I was finally able to hobble without crutches, and finally went to the orthopedic to figure out what I did. I tore all the ligaments in my right ankle. I am supposed to be able to be active by this time, but all I have mastered is walking. Jumping, running, whatever, is out of the question1 I'm so anxious to exercise again that I am actually DREAMING about being able to run! NOTE: This week, it doesn't seem like my ankle has made any progress in the healing process. And I am doing my exercises!
  6. Quiet times are more difficult when you're married. Possible, but more difficult and require more discipline. However, the desire to share a spiritual life with my husband is incredible-- like there is a tangible, little something missing without it.
  7. Um, The Avengers was awesome. Such a fun date night, even as a gimp. I actually really love all of these comic-like movies.
  8. We know where we will be stationed next! I don't like to tell public audiences where we are all the time, so if you're interested, just let me know! We did get a course in Las Vegas for 2 weeks before we move though! This will be an epic move, for sure.
  9. I miss Savannah, GA, and some of the people there so much! It really means a lot to us to get those "We miss you" messages. Hearing from different people, just to say they're thinking of us, etc. really does mean a lot. It is difficult to express that, though. I think that is why I am starting these updates.
  10. If you're interested, I started reading through the book of John in the Bible. This is such an overdone saying, but I love how there are new things to learn all the time when reading the Bible. Every season of our lives reveals new things about the Word of God! For me, it has been in the very first chapter. This world that seems so lost, and even within the Christian community, we seem to be confused, or hazy on exactly who God is and what God is like. John clearly says in a beautiful prelude to historical accounts, that Jesus came down as God and if we want to know what God is like, we should look to Jesus's life! Love it. Can't wait to find out more about this right now.
  11. I have been volunteering at a church here in Enterprise. It is called Crossroads Community Church (opens new window).
  12. I'll be at Camp Suwannee again this summer. I'm afraid it might be the last year I am able to do it. I would do all three weeks, but it is a busy time for Matt/his graduation from the Career Course.
Hope all is well for you!
