From The Big Easy to The Cure for it.

Wow. So, the past two weeks have been non-stop! As soon as I unpacked, I packed right back up and was on the road!

Today is Sunday, July 15th.

As I mentioned in the last blog, Matt and I went to New Orleans on the last weekend in June, and headed to our future home to find a home! Our trip was very successful! God did bless us with the ability to purchase a home, and we look forward to closing on it in September! We got to explore the area, and I got to experience something I'd never experienced before: My husband's insane research capacity. He can go at it for hours, days, and weeks on end! I feel like I know so much more today than I did in February before we married! Our home is a new build, and isn't actually finished yet. This is awesome! We have been picking paint colors (interior and exterior), stone types, carpet, etc.! We are very excited!

This trip ended on Wednesday, July 4th. The trip couldn't be over soon enough, though, as I was developing a nasty head cold! I visited a USO in the Airport for the first time! My heart was really filled by the people who volunteered to serve the people who serve in the military and their families. Their words were so kind, and they were there to help! Vouchers for food, deodorant, toothbrushes, anything you might need. I can just see a soldier passing through on his or her way home to their loved ones and being able to sleep, relax and freshen up before going back to the real world for some R&R. We had a several hour layover late into the evening, and so I spent a lot of that time in the USO sleeping in a chair listening to sleep-machine noises! When we finally did get back to New Orleans, Matt drove through the night back to Fort Rucker while I slept. I was impressed and very thankful for a diligent husband with a servant's heart!

Not but 3 days later, I was packing back up and headed to Camp Suwannee for Senior Camp week! I am always excited for camp, and have been since I was 6 years old! Being able to spend an entire week surrounded by friends who encourage you in your walk with God, a constant sense of the presence of God, and being ministered to morning, afternoon, and evening is an irreplaceable gift from God! A greater gift still was being able to share God's mercy and grace with, and pour as much love and listening as possible into the lives of teenagers, most of who have lived a life surrounded by broken families, drugs, alcohol, suicide, and just plain old evil.

There is much more to report about camp, but since it was only a day ago that I returned home, I am currently too tired to think through it all. I know many campers (and counselors) left with changed hearts, and despite the exhausting work we do there, God refreshed my soul and continued to build on friendships that reunite every year.

Until next time... zzzzzz
