Dear Facebook

I always have a lot to say, but it's usually a swirling mass of words I can't quite comprehend at all times. Sometimes, in moments of sheer genius and clarity, I swear, only by the grace of God and through the power of the Holy Spirit do these thoughts come in clearly.

At one point last week, while I was attending the Gateway Conference in Dallas, TX and in the middle of preparing to lead worship at a PWOC (Protestant Women Of The Chapel) fall retreat, a friend shared a blog with me that made me realize (I guess you could call it a "calling"- I've heard that word enough to know when to use it) I should blog my thoughts instead of just posting them randomly on Facebook. I have a lot going on in my brain, and Lord knows my husband is a good man to listen to me go on.

As I type this, I have a cat... named Omar... sitting on my lap and trying to snuggle with my hand, that I am using for typing. He does this often, and I can tell you in about... well, right now... he is going to get mad because I, his nap lap, am moving too much. We have a very special relationship that some of you know about, and some of you will find out about.

(hand snuggle)

Anyway, recently I revisited a gifts placement test that I did at church a few years ago and realized that God gave me gifts I am not using... and I've felt like, for a long time, that God wants me to develop the things he's given to me. So I thought it wise to explore the use of the gifts outside of being a worship leader.  Singing isn't a spiritual gift. However, through this tool  we started using at Isle of Hope UMC, where I worked for a few years in Savannah, GA (holla - yes, friends). to place our "servant leaders", I discovered a lot of things about myself:

Lindsay's Top Five Spiritual Gifts:
1. Wisdom
2. Knowledge
3. Teaching
4. Giving
5. Discernment
6. Wordiness- oh wait, that's not one... that's not five...

Six Strongest Areas in which Lindsay is "Able"... AKA, "Abilities"
1. Artistic
2. Investigative
3. Social
4. Enterprising
5. Conventional
6. Realistic

MAN... I LOVE learning about myself! It's not narcissistic, it's investigative! But really, God made us each unique and I guess for personality reasons listed above, I feel more equipped to enter into this world and handle this disciple making process when I know what God has given me to work with!

I have had a very busy week, so keep up! Thanks ya'll.
