For the first few months here in Manhappinin' (heard that one today), I could get a job to save my life. Then, I get a job at a great local coffee shop here, and a month later, a job opened at the church we go to. Pretty sweet, yeah? God's providence working itself out. I should know better now... patience and long suffering are virtues!
As Matt and I prepare for all of the things the Army has in store for us, we do it in light of how God is providing for us. Philippians 4 seems to be the go to chapter in the Bible for me lately, especially all of those verses that are pretty overworked and under-heard in my life.
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Working at the coffee shop has taught me quite a bit about how I interact with people. You see, interacting with people in a Godly or holy way when you work at a church can be pretty easy as long as you stay away from the gossip :). But when working in a more secular environment, especially at 6AM, for hours on your feet, constantly moving... the filters breakdown. Just recently, as I end my time at the coffee shop, God's been working on the way I act, how I think... stripped down and bare bones-- how am I? Holiness.
Philippians 4
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
... and seriously, now I'm so tired I can't even think, but I wanted to get something down before another month passed.
Oh, and, Matt and I will have been married for a year this month :). Every day is better than the last, and all of them are equally wonderful.
