Blessed Redeemer and the musical journey towards Easter

This will be a work in progress as I flesh out the details for the upcoming weeks in worship...

I love creating drama through music and The Word of God. This journey towards the cross found in the gospels provides so much to work with. There is an abundance of beautiful music that is out there to help us focus on this journey and the cross.

One that keeps going through my head is Blessed Redeemer, recorded by Casting Crowns. The musical arrangement mixed with the focus of the word of adoration (Blessed, precious) in contrast with the imagery of the Son of God, God himself in our own flesh and blood, suffering to save the people he loves of eternal loss (wounded, bleeding, blinded but heeding): 

Blessed Redeemer, precious Redeemer

Seems now I see him on Calvary's tree.

Wounded and bleeding,

for sinners pleading

Blinded and heeding

Dying for me.
