Last night was a very late night.
Now, I'm "old" so late night means I went to bed at 1:30 a.m. and almost couldn't get off of the floor to get to bed (LOOK AT THIS. If you aren't familiar with Alexander Technique, I recommend this to absolutely everyone, all of the time). I digress... Last night I had a few friends over to carve pumpkins! We didn't get very far. In fact, we only got the tops of the pumpkins off and most of the insides taken out. Then it got dark, and we gathered around the fire to keep warm, roast marshmallows and make s'mores.
You know, one thing Matt and I prayed for when we were moving to Kansas was that God would provide a church family, friends, and a home for us. God has provided in spades for us, and I do believe it was because we asked for it. God provided a church home, and through that church home, friends, and even still, more friends through the Army. I am an "I" type personality, and an "Otter" (remember?) so I LOVE having people over and being with people. Both Matt and I do. We love friends and family, so to have so many people over and having fun, it was a gift for us to be able to host!
Shout out to my friends who came over and killed
Well, all that to say the night went into the early next morning. I smelled like a camp fire, which honestly, I hate the smell of unless I'm actually sitting at one. So I showered and scrubbed and took time to smell nice before crawling into bed. Which brings me to days like today:
For the first time in about two months, I had no real obligations and the chance to do whatever I wanted on Saturday! WHAT a gift. I wouldn't have realized it was such a gift if I hadn't been so busy as of late. So, I decided not to set my alarm clock, and ended up sleeping until about 11. I also hadn't done that in a very long time! So I slept in, woke up when I felt like it. Made coffee, put some lemons in my water, and made breakfast (eggs). I did dishes, and cleaned up the kitchen.
That sounds very mundane, I understand, but I haven't done this in a very long time!
But really, the most beautiful days are the restfully productive ones! I had gone grocery shopping Thursday night (around 9 p.m. Excellent time to go!), but hadn't had time to wash and prepare the veggies/fruits I'd gotten until today. So I started cleaning the grapes, tearing off leaves on the kale, and just busying myself making life altogether happier and healthier.
Every. single. moment. is scheduled (including free time), and this week culminated to today- an oasis in the middle of this endless cycle of days and weeks. Thank you, God, for the weekend!
Tomorrow I am blessed to lead worship at church, and with all God has been pouring into me, I'm more excited than I have ever been to minister to God and be apart of bringing his huge love into our midst!!
Here's our set list, if you're interested:
This Is Amazing Grace, Alive In Us, Like Incense / Sometimes By Step, Where The Spirit Of The Lord Is, Not For A Moment
Now I'm watching Elizabeth Berkley dance on Ellen. She was always the character I related to in Saved By The Bell- being that she had curly hair and was smart and all... :) And watching Tori Kelly sing the heck out of Dear No One. Wow. I do hope she makes an acoustic album.
Oh! I had a dream that Omar the cat was a lizard and he was eaten by another cat (weird), and I was very, very sad. Apparently I love my mean cat just as he is. Also, I dreamed about the first night Matt was back from Afghanistan. I love when I have happy feelings in my dreams :)! Then it was interrupted by our puppy (?We don't have puppy) having to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night! I took her through a door to go outside and we ended up in this little courtyard area with little tables and umbrellas where people were chatting, drinking coffee, and enjoying the overcast cool weather right by this canal where boats were going by. It made me miss living by the water.
Lindsay out.
