I've never thought of the song, "Not For a Moment" as a Christmas song before this very moment.
But as my preacher talks about Christmas in a way we all probably know, or have heard of, it does seem like one.
Some of us will not have a Christmas that is merry and bright. Some of us will have a very blue Christmas.
You see, Christ came into this world to be a light in the darkest places... Places full of sin, full of sorrow, full of brokenness, suffering and need.
Because "mess happens," we need a savior. Because "mess happens," Christ was sent into the world that night.
I love the imagery in this song,
"You were singing in the dark, whispering your promise, even when I could not hear."
Christ is in the dark places to be light. He is in the dark places so we could have light. We can identify with that dark... Some of us need to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But God is the light IN the tunnel. We don't have to wait until the end of the hard times to feel the light of life.
God is with us. He is Emmanuel.
