Text: Philippians 1:27-2:18
"Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel..."
Philippians 1:27
Observation
I don't know why this struck a cord with me. It brought to mind what the implications of this would be- if we truly lived it out in our ministry teams, our interactions with leaders and volunteers. But I also think about how living this way can affect my own marriage (1:27-2:18). We are all in this fight against sin and darkness together. When we work together in Christ, for Christ, to God's glory (not ours), we ourselves may transform and can transform our world, showing Satan that WE know he has no power over us.
Application
I will be aware of how I stand with and work alongside others. My thoughts and opinions being heard is not the highest goal. I am not an asset that God wants to use but a partner who serves and stands in support of those whom God has raised up in church leadership. I am a partner in a marriage-- to work alongside and support of, standing in one spirit, for faith in the gospel. I must work to live this way.
Prayer
This I cannot do without prayer. Father, show us how we need to live and come together. Spirit, transform us to be team workers and other promoters instead of selfish workers so that you will be glorified here on earth, in our lives, and in the growth and faith of others! Show me specifically where I can contribute to this kind of side by side living. Thank you for the community that you have provided me to live in. Help us, by your Spirit and Word, to live our lives in a way worthy of the good news we live in!
