"In Him we live and move and have our being."
It popped into my head about a week ago, and hadn't left me since. It was a very humbling and centering verse to have in mind.
Today is Thanksgiving, and I stopped for a moment to give thanks to God (Note: This wasn't a big ceremonial thing. I was heading to use the bathroom- which to be fair, is some of the only quiet time I get now). As I was making my prayer of thanks, the song "Always Enough" by Kari Jobe popped into my head. Actually, the end of it did:
"If I have you, I have everything. Lord without you, I have nothing."
This is one of my favorite and most referred to lines in a song. It's so concise, so beautiful, so humbling. It was after this that I sat down to do my devotional, Psalms of Gratitude from SheReadsTruth. I'm a little behind, but Day 9 is Psalm 103.
Mine looked like this:
I was an underlining fool! Even though I've read this multiple times before and realized it's truth who knows how many times, I just could not get over how amazing these things are.
He forgives all your sin;
he heals all your diseases.
He redeems your life from the Pit;
He crowns you with faithful love and compassion
He satisfies you with goodness
your youth is renewed like the eagle.
The Lord executes acts of righteousness and justice for all the oppressed...
The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and rich in faithful love... He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve or repaid us according to our offenses.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His faithful love toward those who fear him!
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.
For He remembers what we are made of, remember we are dust.
STOP IT. Stop it right now. This is overwhelming and amazing.
Lord in you I live and move and have my being. If I have you, I have everything. Lord, without you, I have nothing. Thank you, Lord, for this revelation and for your love. Thank you for your life in me.
